If you’re making the transition from imaginary outcomes to the messy (and often disappointing path) of actually finishing and shipping your work, be prepared for indifference.
The goal is a body of work for everyone to see. It doesn’t have to be amazing, but it does have to be finished.
The fear of ridicule keeps us from the practice of finishing and shipping work. The fear of being wrong prevents us from releasing our work prolifically.
But not even trolls take the time to engage on work that isn’t being shipped regularly. It’s not on their radar. It’s not on anyone’s radar.
The worst-case scenario isn’t producing something bad and being ridiculed for it. It’s knowing that you had something to offer but weren’t willing or able to communicate it.
Write and release lots of work regularly. You might still have a long way to go to deserve ridicule.
