We're huge fans of old music, and every so often we have to release something that's pretty well known. In our own style! Here's our version of the schmaltzy jazz classic 'L-O-V-E', done as a duet with a robot!
Here's the official story:
The hugely popular jazz standard 'L-O-V-E' was most famously recorded by Nat King Cole in 1965. Because the song has been done to death, we decided to do a steampunk-inspired duet with a robot. Sorta like something you'd hear on the Bioshock soundtrack. Our cover version is in the gypsy jazz style, with some creative license added to the guitar, violin and double bass in the form of trombone, trumpet and baritone sax. Brass instruments and sax almost never feature in manouche (gypsy jazz) music, so do forgive us if you're a purist. Although we do all play instruments, our electronic music and production background led us to create a build-and-drop arrangement, as commonly used in EDM, believe it or not! Finally, the song's introduction was treated with midrange EQ and a crackly old film static sound to evoke the nostalgia of yesterday's music. Everything we do together as PRAVDA is vintage-inspired. Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!
